"All that is in the universe is with us ... nothing against us."
"Each one of us has access, immediately, in our own consciousness, to that absolute Power, that unconditioned Presence, that infinite Law, which molds and makes things out of Itself, by Itself directly becoming the thing It makes. The good which we desire passes out of It, as though it came from the very hand of God, which it does. But, even God cannot give us anything unless we are in a mental condition to receive the gift. The law cannot do anything for us unless it can do it through us. We live in the midst of eternal good, but it can only be to us what we believe it to be. We stand at the mouth of the river, but we must let down our own bucket if we wish it filled with the pure waters of Reality. It is not enough that this substance is everywhere around us and in us. There were thousands in the crowd through which Jesus passed, yet only one woman she who touched the hem of His garment received healing. The woman was eager for the blessing, and believed she would receive it, if she could touch the hem of His robe. Unless we consciously open our minds and recognize our oneness with omnipresent substance, we shall appropriate none of it."

"THE UNIVERSE HOLDS NOTHING AGAINST US"
"The universe holds nothing against us. No matter how many mistakes we have made we are still perfect beings within, and the within may become the without, if we will carefully train ourselves to listen to the inner voice of truth which speaks to all people in their moments of quietness and solitude.
There is nothing in the universe that wishes evil to anyone; indeed, it is only as we experience good that God is expressed through us. The more completely we realize good, happiness and success, the more perfectly do we express God and the more of God do we become; that is, the more does God become personified through us. As the prodigal returned to his father's house, so must we return, not with a morbid mind, but consciously and definitely, with a direct intent of mind and a complete concentration of purpose. The journey back should be fraught with happiness and joyful expectation."

"HOW TO BE SOCIABLE
QuestionBesides an inferiority complex of not being able to meet and be sociable with people, I have had pains in the top of my head, with dizziness, and am depressed most of the time. Will you please help me to overcome this mental condition? Being radiantly happy would help overcome depression and complex, too, wouldn't it?"
"ANSWERYes, being radiantly happy would, indeed, heal your negative reactions to life, and since you have sensed that this is the golden key to your problem, the next step is for you to use it to unlock those centers of graciousness and true appreciation of your fellow man, which lie within the soul. That inner, true self, which is really You, knows itself to be unified with the great invisible spirit of Life. It knows this Life to be pure, radiant joy, love and happiness. It knows itself to indwell every human being as a vital spark, an individual p0int in Cosmic Consciousness, and it sees itself in every other individual. Take this Truth into your meditation each day, realizing that you can become whatsoever you can believe yourself to be. If you can accept the belief that you are a perfect, joyous idea in Divine Mind and that immutable law waits upon your wishes, you can change every mental picture of limitation into one of fulfillment. Despair gives way to joy at the thought of Thee, Indwelling Good.
I cannot be sad when I think of Thee.
My sorrow is turned to gladness and my shame to rejoicing.
My tears are wiped away and the sunlight of the Spirit shines through the clouds of depression and lights the way to Heaven.
Thy Joy has made me glad.
Free Spirit Within Me

"Let's right now banish forever the idea that man must be poor to be righteous!"
"If, by this time, we are in agreement that God cannot know poverty or any kind of lack; that opulence, itself, should be manifesting freely in our lives, what steps shall we take to bring abundance into the lives of those who are now experiencing poverty? How shall we make two trees grow where one grew before? To begin with, we are never seeing poverty, but the representation of an idea of lack, which has taken hold of our consciousness. A symbol of lack. Poverty itself is not a realitysince God cannot know itand, therefore, it can be changed. Both prosperity and poverty are states of mind. If we desire to erase the thought of poverty, we go back to the thought of prosperity ( an affirmation of the allness of good) the source of which is God; and we are confronted with the revealing truth that poverty is lack of knowledge of God!"

"THE PATH TO PROSPERITY.
THE healing of conditions is no different from other healing."
"All healing is the constructive use of a mental law which the world is gradually beginning to understand something of. Again we must reiterate the principle of all life. We are surrounded by a thinking medium from which all things come. We think into it; it does the rest. Since we are thinking beings and cannot stop thinking, and since Creative Mind receives our thought and cannot stop creating, it must always be making something for us. What it will make depends absolutely and only upon what we are thinking, and what we will attract will depend entirely upon our holding thought to the complete exclusion of all that would contradict it. It is not enough that we should sit down and say, I am one with Infinite Life. This must mean more than mere words; it must be felt, it must become an embodiment of a positive mental attitude. It is not claiming something to be true which is going to happen; it is not sending out an aspiration, or a desire, or a supplication, or a prayer; it must be the embodiment of that which knows that now it is. This is more than holding a thought. Our ability to attract will depend upon the largeness of our thought as we feel that it flows out into a great Universal Creative Power. We are dealing with the form in thought, and not with the form in matter. "

My feet shall not falter, for they are kept upon the path of Life through the Power of the Eternal Spirit.
This Spirit is my spirit now.

"OVERCOMING FAULTS."
QuestionCritical, intolerant, too impulsive and emotional, too severe and almost without love. I seldom line them up like this, as it is a formidable array which depresses me, and if that is self-pity, I am guilty of that, too. But how to overcome them?
"ANSWERSince you have climbed Life's Endless Stairway to the point of honest revelation and admission of your 'faults,' the next step is a decision to climb out of them, leave them, forget them. 'Life is changeless in its endless change.' There is nothing 'set' in it. This is the point for you to work on. The hard shell which apparently encompasses you will break and fall away from you when you break through it. Persistent hammering on the same spot in any wall will break the wall. Every time the old intolerant attitude suggests itself to you, turn it squarely around and demand the right mental reaction toward the thing you would criticize. "

AND THE EARTH WAS WITHOUT FORM"
"And the earth was without form, and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep.' Prior to creation the creative Substance exists merely as a Divine possibility, a universal stuff, latent with energy and law, ready to receive the Creative Word that shall cause it to spring into definite forms.
That which is visible comes from that which is invisible. This universal, invisible essence, not exactly nothing, yet of itself no thing, is susceptible to impressions, ready to take form, and the creative word of the Spirit, (page 6) causes the form to appear through the law of the Spirit, which is an immutable part of Its own nature. Let us proceed with the account of creation, having this idea in mind; that there is, in the universe, a conscious Intelligence, which we call Spirit; a reactive Law responding to this conscious Intelligence, and a Substance ready to take form through the word of the Spirit. This is the Thing, the way It works, and what It does."

"By success I do not necessarily mean to point to the man who has a million dollars. A man might be a millionaire and, at the same time, a dismal failure. Equally, a man might have a very few dollars and be a very rich man, because he would be satisfied, happy, complete. Success means that which is necessary to maintain a balance, an equilibrium: Subjectively, it means a state of well being, a sense of happiness; and objectively, an environment that reflects this inner state of consciousness.A successful man will be at peace, and because he is at peace, he will be happy; and because he is happy, he will be surrounded by happy circumstances. He will have a sufficient consciousness of substance that his environment will reflect a degree of supply sufficient to enable him to have those things which make for a fuller life, whether we call it much or little"

"INVOLUTION AND EVOLUTION EXPLAINED.
QuestionWhat do we mean by involution and evolution? "
"ANSWERBefore anything can evolve it must first be involved. Before the seed can produce a harvest it must first fall into the ground. The planting of the seed is an idea specializing the law, having a definite purpose, that of producing its own type. The act of involution is a conscious one. The gardener consciously invokes the law. As soon as the seed is planted the natural processes of creation begin. Everything that happens from seed to harvest is intelligent but unconscious, hence a mechanical process. When we study evolution we are studying a mechanism and not a spontaneity. Involution precedes evolution in the creative sequence."

"IN THE BEGINNING"
"The account of creation, which says that, 'in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth,' does not refer to a time when there was no creation but rather to the process of eternal creation, which is a continual manifestation of Spirit. An eternal creation is proven by the fact that we must suppose Spirit to be conscious Intelligence, and there can be no conscious intelligence (page 5) unless it is conscious of something. Spirit is consciousness, hence It must be conscious of something, therefore It must always create. What a glorious concept is the idea of an eternal creative Principle! There is no stagnation in Spirit, nor should there be any in our idea of spirituality. To be spiritual is to create. The Spirit is alive, conscious, aware and active, always. But how does the Spirit create and from what does It, through Its creative genius, mould definite forms? These questions are pertinent to our philosophy. If we suppose Spirit to be the Life principle running through all things, the cause of all, then we must suppose that It has substance within Itself. It is self-existent consciousness, and also self-existent Substance."

Today's Insight!
"WHY, AND WHAT IS MAN? We find in the physical universe that automatic laws govern everything; "
"for instance, the tree cannot say I will not, because of the law that holds it in place; it grows without any volition of its own. So it is with all nature; but when we come to man we find a different manifestation of the Spirit, a being who can say I choose.
In all creation, man alone is an individual; man alone is free; and yet man alone wants, is sick, suffers, and is unhappy. Man marks the earth with ruin; why? because he has not found his true nature. The very thing that should free him, and eventually will do so, now limits him.
God could not make an individual without making him able to think, and he cannot think without bringing upon himself the results of his thought, good or bad. This does not mean using two powers, but using the One from two standpoints.
Nothing in itself is either good or bad; all things exist in mind as a potentiality; mind is eternally acting upon thought, continually producing its own images from mind, and casting them out into manifestation. Man must be the outcome of the desire of the Spirit to make something which expresses the same life that It feels.
Man is made to be a companion of the Infinite; but to arrive at this exalted plane of being, he must have his freedom, and be let alone to discover his own nature; to return love to his Creator only when he chooses to do so. At the doorway, then, of mans mind this wonderful God has to wait. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; the opening must be on the part of the individual.
Man lives in a mind that presses in upon him from all sides with infinite possibilities, with infinite creative power. The divine urge of infinite love crowds itself upon him, and awaits his recognition. Being the image of this Power, his thought also must be the Word or cause in the life.
At the center of his being is all the power that he will need on the path of his unfoldment; all the mind that man has is as much of this Infinite Mind as he allows to flow through him.
We have often thought of God as far off, and of man as a being separate from the All Good; now we are coming to see that God and man are one, and that that One is simply awaiting mans recognition, that he may spring into being and become to man all that he could wish or want. As the father has inherent life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to have life within himself. "

"'IN the beginning, God!' Clear and expressive are these words. In the beginning, God only. No manifest universe! No system of planets! Nothing of form or life, of brute or man! God was the Spirit of All that was to be, but He had not yet moved upon the waters. Then this All-Being moved, or began to create. "
"Where did Spirit move, upon what did It move to create; where did It get a pattern; what means or power did It employ; through what agencies did It work? In short, what is the world, ourselves included, made out of, and how did we and all else come into being? These questions correctly answered would solve the problem of being and set men free. Let Us consider.
The Spirit was all; there was nothing else but Itself. All-Inclusive, Everywhere, Infinite. This All-Spirit could not have had the impulse to move unless It were self-conscious, therefore the Spirit is the Power that knows Itself; It is accordingly All-Knowing as well as All-Present. Being one, undivided, whatever It knows, It knows all over instantly. We find then that the Spirit operates through self knowing. It moves, and that inner movement must be One of Infinite Power, moving upon Itself since It is all and with a definite purpose. The Spirit, then, moves upon Itself, and makes out of Itself all that is made. In other words, what we see comes from what we do not see, through some inner intelligence at work, which knows there is no power but Itself. 'The things that are seen are not made of the things that do appear.'"

How simple the process of creation when we understand it. "THE GREATER CONSCIOUSNESS."
"MAN is surrounded by a great universal thought power which returns to him always just as he thinks. So plastic, so receptive is this mind, that it takes the slightest impression and moulds it into conditions. There are two things in man which his thought affects, his body and his environment. At all times he is given absolute control over these two things, and from the effect of his thought upon them he cannot hope to escape. At first, being ignorant of this fact, he binds himself by a misuse of the laws of his being; but as he begins to see that he himself is responsible for all that comes to him on the path of life, he begins to control his thought, which in its turn acts on the universal sustance to create for him a new world. The great soul is learning more and more to dare to fling out into mind a divine idea of himself, and to see himself perfect and whole. If he has a divine thought he will get a divine thing, if he has a human thought he will get a human tiling; he will receive whatever his innermost thought embodies. And so we find in the Bible twice repeated these words: To the pure Thou wilt show Thyself pure and to the froward Thou wilt show Thyself froward."

"World Peace will appear when the nations, realizing that there is good enough to go around, learn to live together in harmony. This is a matter of self-training among the different peoples, an international understanding. This international consciousness is being born to the nations to-day and will yet shine full-orbed. Then we shall cease to have wars.The world is made up of individual members so we must begin with the unit. We cannot carry discord into harmony for discord is a lack of the proper appreciation of harmony. As a straight line finds no abiding place in a curve, so discord finds no abiding place in harmony. We cannot carry our troubles to the Spirit for the Spirit is untroubled. We approach God only through His own nature. If one wishes to experience peace he must first become peaceful in his own thought. Careful self-training will do this; watching one's thought and carefully discarding such mental attitudes as are of a destructive nature; this is possible for all"

In saying that no man puts a piece of new cloth on an old garment or new wine into old bottles, Jesus was teaching a lesson in religious development. We are continuously living a new life, and when the old and the new do not fit nicely together, the oldbeing no longer able to contain the newshould be discarded.
Continually we must expect new revelations of old truths. We should never lose sight of the fact that the soul is on the pathway of an endless and ever-expanding experience, and that only by expansion can it evolve. This does not mean that we should cast away any good the old has to offer, but that we convert it into a greater good.
Accepting the lessons and experiences of the past, and taking the best from everything, we should press boldly forward, looking ever for the Truth, and ever ascending higher and higher into the heavens of reality. There is no limit to the possibility inherent in all men. Let the timid soul put its complete trust in good and press bravely on.

The Inner Light
The Light of Heaven shines through me and illumines my path.
The Light Eternal is my guide and my protection.
In that Light there is no darkness at all.
It is a Perfect Light shining from the altar of a perfect Love.
O Light and Love within me, Thou art welcome.
Light shines through me and illumines the Way.

"AN inquiry into Truth is an inquiry into the cause of things as the human race sees and experiences them."
"The starting point of our thought must always begin with our experiences. We all know that life is, else we could not even think that we are. since we can think, say and feel, we must be. We live, we are conscious of life; therefore we must be and life must be. If we are life and consciousness (self-knowing) then it follows that we must have come from life and consciousness. Let us start, then, with this simple fact: Life is and life is conscious. But what is the nature of this life; is it physical, mental, material or spiritual? A little careful thinking based upon logic, more than any merely personal opinion, will do much in clearing up some of these questions that at first seem to stagger us with their bigness. How much of that which is may we call life? The answer would have to be: Life is all that there is; it is the reason for all that we see, hear, feel -- for all that we experience in any way. Now nothing from nothing leaves nothing, and it is impossible for something to proceed from nothing. Since something is, that from which it came must be all that is."

"Love breaks down the iron bars of thought, shatters the walls of material belief, severs the chain of bondage which thought has imposed, and sets the captive free. In treatment you should know that love rules your thought and actions, and that you are appreciated by everyone who contacts you. You affirm that fear and hate cannot motivate you, cannot operate through you, cannot do anything to you, do not belong to you, and are no part of you. Allow nothing to enter your consciousness but a sense of peace. In effective prayer you know that there is no place for anything but good in your life. You know that you do not contradict what you have affirmed, that the statements you have made are the Truth about you, and that they absolutely, positively, immediately and permanently uproot, cast out and forever obliterate every negative condition or situation to which they are directed"

"AS LITTLE CHILDREN"
"We must become as little children. How we long for a return of that simple trust in life which children have; in their minds there are no doubts, they have not yet learned that they are sinners, destitute of divine guidance and spiritual life. The life of the child is lived in natural goodness. God is natural goodness. The prison walls of false experience soon build themselves into barriers, shutting out the light and the child grows into a man, often losing his sense of that inner guide leading his footsteps aright.We must return the way we came. As little children, who know that life is good and to be trusted, we are to approach our problems as though they were not; approaching them in this manner, they will vanish. Let not the materialist deny us this right, nor the unbelieving cast any reflection of his blindness before our eyes."

"HELPING OTHERS"
"QuestionHow can one help another, who seems to live almost wholly in race-consciousness, to lift up his thought to a higher level?
ANSWERIn helping others the question arises sooner or (page 58) later: 'Just how far may one go?' It is not possible to tear a bud open if we want to have the perfect bloom. We have to let the sun and air and wind, in other wordsnaturedo the work. Just so it is in working for another whose consciousness is not evolved to the point where he can appreciate what is being done. Each one of us is an individualized center in God-consciousness, and each is expressing himself at the level of his consciousness of God. Thus each one is free to work out his own destiny, and, as certain as night follows day, we all must find our way back to the'Father's House.' But you can do some very powerful work within yourself which will embrace him and his unfoldment. You can follow the treatment given here and results are sure to follow. In your treatment, lift him to the plane of the absolute, knowing his perfection and that the love that fulfills all law fulfills him. Do not try to hasten his growth, but know within yourself that spiritual growth is ordained for him from the beginning of time and that he cannot resist its influence."

"You should be careful not to fight fear too much, but rather, through a sort of flexible imagination, convert fear into faith."
"Realizing that it is a mental attitude, you can do this very easily. Looking at the thing which you fear and examining the thought of fear which you have about it, convert this thought into one of faith, realizing that the energy of fear converted into faith will produce an effect exactly opposite. If you will look at the thing you are afraid of until you really understand it, it will no longer have any element of fear for you. You can do this in such degree as you are conscious of being Divinely guided and protected, and state your realization of this in a definite manner. Love overcomes both hate and fear. However, love does not overcome hate and fear through controversy, argument or force, but by a subtle power of transformation, transmutation and sublimation. It is invisible in its essence but apparent through its act. As light overcomes the darkness, as the presence of heat causes the coolness of a room to change until it is warm and comfortable, so the radiant action of love and peace dissipates fear, hate and confusion. Love is the victor in every case. Love breaks down the iron bars of thought, shatters the walls of material belief, severs the chain of bondage which thought has imposed, and sets the captive free. "WHEN THE BLIND LEAD THE BLIND"
"'If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.' We must be careful what kind of thought we are following. We must test all ideas to see whether they are of the Truth. It is a mistake to accept every man's philosophy simply because it sounds plausible. We are to be on guard against accepting that which is not true. And let us remember this, the Truth is simple, direct and always self-evident. False ideas heaped upon other false ideas make bad matters worse. The whole confusion of the world arises from fundamental errors of thought. Chief among these errors, and the father to a greater part of the others, is a belief in duality. The belief in duality supposes that evil is equal to good, that a suppositional devil divides the kingdom of Truth with good. Such things cannot be. Remember the teaching of Moses, that 'God is One.' If, on the other hand, we accept that evil has a power equal to good, then we must fall into the ditch of our own confusion.To believe in the good alone may seem fallacious to many but he who believes thus will find his path lighted by a torch which flickers not, nor fails. "QuestionPlease tell me how to avoid being affected by the thoughts of others?
ANSWERWork for mental stability, which is the ability to 'stand' in your own mind without being 'blown by every wind, and tossed.' 'Stand ye still,'which means STAND YE STEADY. In establishing this mental stability, you must be careful that the element of rigidity does not enter, because inflexibility of mind, wherein one becomes opinionated and arbitrary, is as great a fault as the other extreme or lack of ability to 'stand.'The habit of being affected by the thoughts of others is negative and should be overcome.Treat as follows: 'There is but one objective and one subjective mind. There is no mind stronger than mine, no mind (page 56) can affect me against my judgment or my will. My judgment is at the helm of my thinking processes and protects me from the influence of other minds. Those things which I would not choose cannot enter my mental realm to affect my experience. This is the word I give to my subjective, in full faith that it strengthens me in my own positiveness and protects me from undesired suggestion."

Seeing the Perfect
My eyes behold the complete and perfect in all Creation, In all, over all and through all. I see the perfect; there is nothing else to see, and no suggestion of otherness can enter my thought. I know only the perfect and the complete. I am perfect and whole, now.
I see the Good.
The Circle Is Complete
The Circle of Love is complete. It comprehends all, includes all, and binds all together with cords of Everlasting Unity. I cannot depart from Its Presence nor wander from Its care. My Love is complete within me. The Love of God binds me to Itself, and will not let me go. I shall make a home for you, O my wonderful Love, and we shall journey through life hand in hand. I shall sit in your Presence and learn the wondrous things You will tell me; For You are God.

"THAT WHICH DEFILES"
"Not what we eat or drink, but what we think defiles. The issues of life are from within. If a man is clean in his mind, then is he clean indeed. We must keep the mental house free from any thought which contradicts the truth of being. Life is what consciousness makes it. This is a great realization. Experience may appear to disclaim this fact, but the principle involved is an immutable one and cannot be shaken any more than the integrity of the universe can be violated. "LOSING THE TRAIL"
"QuestionI'm not sick or I'm not in trouble of any kind, but for some reason I don't seem to advance as I should. I have no trouble in holding a job, but I only advance so far and then stop. I have been studying Science of Mind for several months and only get so far, then stopseems like I come to where the trail is dim, and I become lost and just wander around, accomplishing nothing. Will you please advise me how to get over or past this place where I always lose the trail?
ANSWER-It would seem that this losing the trail, and groping about in confusion is a well-beaten habit-track on the subjective side of your life. It should be handled exactly as any other undesirable habit. If advancement is what you desire, you have but to know that, even before the desire (page 54) could present itself to your conscious mind, it had already taken on definite form. We are taught that supply precedes demand'Before ye call, I will answer and while ye are yet speaking, I will hear.'To wipe out the old habit, turn your mind to the new purpose, that of getting beyond the old mental stopping place. Realize that the infinity of the One Mind is resident within youperfect, complete and powerful. Know that progress is the immutable law of your good and that there is nothing in the universe that can hinder or delay your advancement."

"In your treatment you naturally start with the supposition that Spirit is the only Life, and that this Life is your life. This Perfect Life is your life now"
"The Law of Mind establishes your recognition of this Perfection as being your immediate experience. All the Power there is is the Power of the Law of Mindthe creativity of Spirit. The only action there is is the action of Mind or Spirit. Hence, in your word rests the ability to remove anything and everything which does not belong to pure Spirit.You must believe this and definitely state it. Your statements must be specific, and you must be conscious of their meaning. Without these two elements of thought, treatment cannot be effective. Lack of abundance is not part of the heavenly kingdom. It would be a contradiction of the Divine Nature to think of God as being impoverished. But humanity is impoverished because we do not see the abundance around us. We do not interpret the universe as a spiritual system; we do not recognize the Spirit as the limitless Source back of all supply. In declaring that the Spirit is the Source of supply you state an eternal verity. But you must follow this declaration with another declaration that this Source is now your supply. The idea you use in your treatment is that Spirit manifests as your supply according to your concept of it. You make the specific statement that you are rightly guided and Divinely protected."

"QuestionI am practically well physically, but seem unable to get hold of things mentally. I am an educated professional woman. Please help me to find myself again.
ANSWER - If you mean that your mental world is chaotic or disorganized, the treatment for you to use is as follows: Sitting quietly, contemplate the idea of your unity and harmony with Divine Mind; then realize that only harmonious and logical action and reaction can have place in this One Mind. You are one with this Mind, hence only your perfect good can reach you through its channels. When you can sense the truth, that this One Mind is your mind, declare your (page 53) Oneness with It. And on this basis, claim as your own all the mental power that this Mind has. "

"QuestionI have a lot of day dreams, but seem to lack will power, or mental consent to carry them into action.
ANSWERWill is a directive force, and when thus used it becomes the instrument through which divine energy is directed. Teaching oneself how to meditate and how to concentrate takes as much practice as that required for any other accomplishmentIT IS NOT DONE OVER NIGHT. Each day, without fail, give time to meditationsit quietly forget everything that suggests chaotic conditions or personal (page 52) dilemma. Each time a negative thought presents itself to you discard it from your mind. Do not be discouraged if at first your mind seems to wanderpersistently put every diverse thought out of your mind until you have formed the habit of controlling your own mental action. Know that perfect order and harmony in your affairs is your birthright and CLAIM IT NOW. Treat something like this: 'Divine Mind within me knows all things. It knows the answer to my problem and this Mind makes me know consciously just what action to take. I listen for the inner guidance, and I do make the right decision, and that which is for my highest good is now manifesting in all of my affairs."

"THE CONCEPT OF A SUCCESSFUL MAN"
"Could we see the mentality of a successful man, we should find the imprint of success written in bold letters across the doorway of his consciousness. The successful man is sure of himself, sure of what he is doing, certain of the outcome of his undertakings. As much gathers more, as like attracts like, so success breeds greater success and conviction is attended by certainty. The whole teaching of Jesus is to have faith and to believe. He placed a greater value on faith and belief than anyone who has ever taught spiritual truth. We are to believe in ourselves because we have first penetrated the invisible cause back of the real self. We are to have absolute faith in our work because we have positive conviction of the inner power which enables us to do the work. But to those who believe only in failure the law comes in corresponding measure, measuring back to them the logical outcome of their beliefs. The habitual failure bears across the threshold of his thought an image of his inability to attain. The old law says that what little he has shall be withdrawn until he has learned the lesson of life and action, Each should train himself, and do so consciously, to conceive of himself as a success. Sailing on that immense sea of livingness, upon whose bosom we are all carried forward, we should go from success to greater success. All thoughts of failure or depression must be erased from the mentality, and positive thoughts of achievement should take their place. Have faith in God, in life, and in your fellow man. Know that right is might. "

"QuestionWhat exactly do people mean when they say that your demonstration can only be equal to the mental equivalent embodied in your desire?
ANSWER-A demonstration, like anything else in the objective life, is born out of a mental concept. The Mind is the fashioning factor, and according to its range, vision, and positiveness, is the circumstance or experience. For example: If a person can see only unloveliness in others, it is because unloveliness is a strong element in himself. The light he throws on others is generated in his own soul and he sees them as he chooses to see them. He holds constantly in his mind a mental equivalent of unloveliness and creates unlovely reactions toward himself. He is getting back what he is sending out. If a man believes himself to be a failure, and that it is useless for him to try to be anything else, he carries with him constantly the mental equivalent of failure. So he succeeds in being a failure, according to the law. That is his demonstration.Having a strong picture, or mental concept, of that which we desire, and holding to that mental equivalent regardless of circumstances or conditions, we must sooner or later manifest according to the concept. For in time the conception comes, through evolution and law, to the moment of birth, (page 48) or projection into the objective world."

"We cannot pray for our good to come to us through particular channels, and at the same time expect that it will be a perfect demonstration."
"That would be based on the supposition that God is limited and could only fill our need through one channel. We might be greatly limiting that Infinite Supply which was already rushing toward us. And we cannot pray to go to Heaven. I hope this is not a terrible disappointment, though it may be ... to those who have endured, as patiently as possible, all the ills they thought the flesh was heir to, resting in the confidence of certainly going to heaven when they die. You will not. You are in heaven now! The Kingdom of Heaven is within you. Be at peace now. No condition, no place, no person except yourself, can cheat you out of the kingdom of heaven. It is a state of mind. Furthermore, we cannot pray for anything for ourselves, the coming of which would cheat or in any manner hurt another, for no thought like that can penetrate the consciousness of one abiding in Him. We can only ask for good, for Good is the nature of God. Good is in His name . . . His nature."

'AND JESUS KNEW THEIR THOUGHTS'"
"'And Jesus knew their thoughts.' Jesus was consciously psychic, that is, he had an extended vision which (page 82) enabled him to read the thoughts of others without going into a trance. To be able to discern the thoughts of others, without entering an abnormal state, is a development which will ultimately come to all. But in our present state of evolution this would not always be a pleasant experience, and will not be until we have learned to think constructively. But according to the narrative, Jesus 'knew their thoughts.'He had been healing a man possessed of unclean thoughts and the priests had reasoned within themselves that his power to do this was of the 'evil one.'Jesus, perceiving their mental process, told them that a house divided against itself cannot stand and that if he cast out evil by the power of evil, then evil would be a power divided against itself. But, he said, 'if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.'Here is the lesson. We cannot do good by continuing to do evil nor can we heal evil except by the power of good. To all sincere students of Spiritual Science this lesson is a guide post, pointing to the fact that the thought of good must ever overcome and completely put to rout any thought of evil or any thought that is less than good"

"We cannot arrive at any other conclusion. Without mind there is no philosophy, there is no science, there is no psychology, there is no religion. There is no prayer and no answer and no universe, unless there is a mind to be aware of it. But you ask me, What is mind? I do not know. Nor does anyone know. It is intelligent to say that no one knows what mind is. No living being knows what matter is. Theoretically, we dissolve it, but it is still therea material object, an illusion, or lines of force in energy. There is no one living who knows what it is, and yet if a man denied it was there, we would say he was insane. All I could tell you about mind is that mind is that thing in me, whatever it is, which enables me to know that I am. It is that in you which enables you to know that you are. If I had a mind which was all mine, and you had one which was all yours, how could you know that I exist or how could I talk with you?"

"THE NEED OF SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE"
"We need spiritual experience, a first-hand knowledge of life and reality. There is no medium between God and man, nothing between life and living, between heaven and hell but an idea. But an idea has no real value until it becomes an experience.In conversation we assume great knowledge of religion and philosophy but how much do we really experience? We can know only that which we experience. All great religions have taught truth but it means nothing to us unless it becomes our truth.We need spiritual experience. We shall never know peace until we embody it; we shall never know Truth until we become Truth; and we cannot know God unless we (page 76) sense Him within our own being. The Spirit is ever giving, but we must take. What life does for us must be done through us. It is useless for a troubled mind to beseech God to bring peace to it. God Is Peace, and we can approach this wonderful presence only as we turn from all that is opposed to it. It is useless to ask God to save sinners from eternal damnation since the Divine Mind conceived neither hell nor devil. If the Deity could know these things they would have a real existence. God knows only peace, and peace is the power at the heart of the Eternal Mind. Back of all is eternal goodness, loving-kindness and everlasting blessedness.Spiritual experience is deep, calm and self-assertive; it is the result of actually realizing that presence which binds all together in one complete Whole. This experience comes in the stillness of the soul when the outer voice is quiet, when the tempest of mortal strife is abated; it is a quickening of the inner man to an eternal reality.Spiritual experience is not an opinion, it is a fact. Spirituality may be defined as the atmosphere of good, the realization of God. It cannot, and does not, borrow its light from another, no matter how great or noble he may be; it springs from within, coming from that never-failing fountain of life, which quenches every thirst, whose source is in eternity; the well-spring of self-existence."

Emerson said: 'Listen greatly unto yourself.' And Jesus said: 'Who hath seen me hath seen the Father, because this is the manifestation of God.' God must be, and is, a universal essence, an undivided and indivisible Spirit, omnipresent, and present in our own spirit as that which we are at this moment. Our approach to this Divine, Creative Principle is the Still Small Voice. God is an indwelling Presence. I do not believe in lost souls, but I do believe that every living soul is in search of himself and his relationship to whatever Reality is. I only know what Reality is in a very small degree."

"ANSWERYour real self is the One Great Self. Your desire to express this Divine Purpose of your individual being is but the innate urge of the Great Self pushing forth into your consciousness. In this way It calls your attention, your mind, into co-operating with It. You should gather all your mental power into one vitalizing current and turn it on each of the activities you bring into your conscious mind for consideration. The moment it plays on the right or the Divine Purpose within you, you will sense a quickening which will serve to hold your interest on that point.Then daily treat yourself as follows:'Divine Intelligence within me and within this point under my consideration, I recognize Your Presence, and I know You now reveal to me the avenue through which I find my perfect expression. "The world seeks a solution of its great riddle,the apparent separation between God and man, between life and what it does, between the invisible and the visible, between the Father and the Son; and until this riddle is solved there can be no peace. (page 75) Peace is an inner calm, stable and certain, obtained through man's knowledge of what he believes and why. Without knowledge there is no lasting peace. Nothing can bring peace but the revelation of the individual to himself and a recognition of his direct relationship to the universe. He must know that he is an eternal being on the pathway of life, with certainty behind him, certainty before him and certainty accompanying him all the way."

"The law of God is one of liberty and not one of bondage. The Spirit of the Lord is everywhere. Freedom and liberty are also everywhere if we could but see them. Freedom, like the Truth, is self-existent and self-propelling. The Spirit, Truth and Freedom are co-existent with one another.Whenever we are conscious of God or pure Spirit we are made free. This is proven in mental and spiritual healing; when we are conscious of perfect life the body is healed. We must become unconscious of the imperfect and conscious of the perfect alone. Since our ideas of perfection are limited to our present understanding we do not yet manifest perfection. With a greater unfoldment of reality through our consciousness we shall evolve a more perfect body.In the demonstration of abundance, we seek to realize the liberty of the Sons of God; the freedom whereby God proves His absoluteness. This is done, not by meditation upon limitation, but by contemplating plenty, abundance, success, prosperity and happiness"

"That the soul is independent of the body is proven by the very fact of death itself; for, when the soul leaves it, the body at once begins to disintegratebecause the life principle has deserted it. It is evident that something real has left, for until now the body has responded to some subtle power which is not physical. If the body, itself, could act, it would continue to do so. The body cannot act, it is acted through; it has been a vehicle for the functioning soul, but is now a garment no more fitting: it is thrown aside to return to the dust from which it sprang, while the Spirit returns to the God who gave it.What is an individual? What is a Man? He is a center of conscious life, intelligence and action, equipped with choice, volition and free thought. What attributes does he possess which enable him to make use of these powers while on earth? Those which we call the senses; and yet we could not take from him any one of them. If the eye could see, it would keep on seeing; if the brain could think it would think on and on forever."

"THE DIVINE URGE"
"QuestionHow can I let the Spirit work through me? How can I discriminate between a Divine Urge and a human impulse?
ANSWERThe first thing for you to do is to recognize your unity with the great Universal Expression. If you can get a clear concept of your oneness with It you will be able to differentiate between the human impulse and the Divine Urge. For in the former, you will see that only the smaller self will benefit through the fulfillment of your desire, while in the latter, you will discover that what benefits you will be beneficial to all. Although the Universal Urge works through the individual, It never loses sight of Its own cosmic purpose. Therefore, you may ask yourself whether only selfish ends are served by the fulfillment of the desire within you. If you find this to be the case you may be sure that your human impulse is father to the desire. The Divine Urge is altruistic, serving the many through Its least expression. It deals with spiritual factors, such as love and service for their own sake; It is true to Itself on every plane of Its expression. To let this spirit work through you it is necessary that you find that secret place within your soul where you realize that your identity as an individual is simply the working of the great Self-knowing Mind."

As our thinking rises to a higher comprehension of the nature of Spiritthe Source of health, beauty, love, life and abundanceautomatically our thought patterns are improved and become more productive of good in our lives.We must imbibe and embody a sense of both the Divine Presence and the infinite Law. As we do so we may with surety affirm that our thoughts and ideas become more Divine-like in their nature. "The unity of the Spirit is kept through the bonds of peace. Other than peace suggests confusion and separation. The Spirit is a perfect unit and we harmonize with this unity when we maintain a state of peace in our minds.'There is one body and one Spirit.' The entire creation is this body, the body of God who is One Spirit. Within this one body are all bodies; that is, within the one creationwhich is the product of the one Spiritare all bodies.We have learned that all material forms come from one ultimate substance. Any special body is some manifestation of this original stuff. The original substance takes many forms; multiplicity, or many within unity, or the One.'One Lord, one faith, one baptism.' One Lord, who is the indwelling Christ, generic man or the universal Son. There is but one faith, for faith is an affirmative mental attitude toward the universe; and one baptism which is the realization that we are in One Spirit.'One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.' It would be impossible to make a clearer statement of truth: One life behind all that lives;One, one, one, and never two. The unity of all life. To learn this is to know the secret of the ages. "'Wisdom is justified of her children.'Jesus had been questioning his hearers about John the Baptist.'For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But, 'Wisdom is justified of her children.'This shows that the world ever finds some flaw in human character. If a man fasts he is possessed of peculiar ideas and if he feasts he is a materialist and a glutton. But Jesus would have us understand that virtue consists neither in eating nor drinking nor yet in abstaining from eating and drinking.'Wisdom is justified of her children.' A man may desire to fast and be wise, or he may desire to feast and still be wise. Virtue is independent of any material form which it may take. The children of wisdom look to the inner and not to the outer for justification. Wisdom knows neither publican nor sinner but is conscious only of herself though she may dress in many garments.If one believes that virtue consists in fasting, then virtue appears to him through fasting; but to him who finds no virtue in fasting, appear to be a greater virtue"

ANSWERThere is no separation in Divine Mind. Divine Mind is Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient, perfect and complete and It knows no particular geographical point as being near or distant. Realize the truth of this completeness and perfection at the point of callthe point of call then becomes the place where spiritual and mental work is done since the individual I is included in the universal I-AM-NESS. Thus you can see that your brother can be reached as effectively in a Nebraska hospital as can a person sitting within reach and hearing."

"DEATH AND THE RESURRECTION"
"By man came death, by man also came the resurrection. Here is a plain statement that man alone is responsible for death and the resurrection. The great teacher has told us, God is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live unto Him.Through our mistakes we die. All die in Adam, and all are made alive in Christ. Christ and Adam are two different names for the same man; one is earthly, the other is heavenly. Adam typifies the material man with his false estimate of life, while Christ typifies the principle of holiness, or wholeness. Each of us is both Adam and Christ. We die daily in Adam and daily are we resurrected in Christ. There is a daily death to that which is untrue and a daily rebirth into the true. The angel of our better selves keeps watch by the graves of our lesser selves, pointing the way to life, truth and beauty. This angel is Christ, forever dwelling in the bosom of the eternal Spirit. Adam pulls down; Christ uplifts.By man alone came mistakes. By man alone will come salvation. Let us remember the saying of Emerson: The finite alone has wrought and suffered, the Infinite lies stretched in smiling repose.The finite must put on the Infinite if it is to be resurrected. The resurrection principle is the eternal manifestation of life in higher and higher forms of expression."

"A MAN'S FOES"
"'And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. ' There are no enemies external to our own mind. This is one of the most difficult problems to understand and simple as it sounds it penetrates the depths of creative causation. Nothing can happen to us unless it happens through us. That which we refuse to accept, to us, cannot be, and that, which to us is, cannot help becoming a reality. But someone will say, 'I did not conceive of this evil which came upon me; it was not in my mind. ' The question then arises, 'can any particular evil be real to one if he refuses to entertain it in his thought?' The answer must forever be, it cannot. This is one of those 'hard sayings' which is difficult to understand, but the principle involved is plain. If we can divorce our lives from the thought of evil, from receptivity to it, if we can bring our mentality to a place where it no longer conceives evil, then evil cannot exist for us. "

"THE LAW OF CIRCULATION 'Freely ye have received, freely give.'"
"When the law of circulation is retarded, stagnation sets in. It is only as we allow the Divine current to flow through us and on and out that we really express life. The law of giving and receiving is definite. Emerson tells us to beware of holding too much good in our hands. Because of the unity underlying all life, no man lives entirely unto himself, but through himself he lives unto the whole, which whole embodies all other lives. Therefore, 'he that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life shall find it.' When a man's thought rests entirely upon himself he becomes abnormal and unhappy; but when he gives himself with enthusiasm to any legitimate purpose, losing himself in the thing which he is doing, he becomes normal and happy. Only as much life enters into us as we can conceive, and we conceive of life in the larger sense, only when there is complete abandonment to it. The losing of personality in the great sea of life which surrounds us, makes possible the flow of this life through our own livingness, producing the inevitable reaction of a greater livingness in our own lives."

The Eye of the Spirit cannot be dimmed, neither can It be limited in Its ability to see.
My eyes are the Vision of my Indwelling Lord; they are the Windows of my Inner Spirit and are always open to the Vision of Truth.
I see with the Vision of the Spirit, and this sight cannot be weakened nor lost; it is forever effective.

"In saying, 'there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known,' Jesus was referring to that law of cause and effect which is immutable. To the mind which knows all there are no secrets and from the all-seeing eye nothing is hidden. When we seek to cover things we are but attempting to put a lid (page 68) over an energy which will not be suppressed. The Cosmic ear hears everything, the Eternal Mind knows all things, and the law of cause and effect brings everything to pass in its time."

As stocks dropped to new 'lows' people lost confidence and dumped everything onto the market. Many good investment stocks went right into discard along with the more highly-speculative holdings, and people awoke in a state of bewilderment. The same thing is happening to us in our spiritual life. We have come upon a day when we have lost faith in much that we one time considered an authority. When we lose faith in the authority of any existing institution, we are very likely, in repudiating its tenets, to throw out something that we should keep, just as we did with our stocks, when our perspective was gone. WHAT ANTAGONISM INDICATES"
"QuestionWhat is wrong when one's disposition becomes antagonistic because of being unable to make a demonstration?
ANSWERAntagonism indicates the presence of stress. The demonstration comes through peacefully when man relaxes in the situation and permits God to do the work. Man is prone to misuse his will. Will power is only the directing agency of Spirit, and not the creative agency. By faithfully knowing that God within him is doing the work, and by determining that no thought of his shall negate that spiritual fact, man frees himself from the burden and the stress that is father to his resentment against failure. This freeing from the burden, this conscious 'letting' of the Spirit of his Good operate through him, is the demonstration in action. He cannot fail. Every thought-seed sown in mind has its own law of harvest. Know that if your demonstration is really necessary to your well being, if it is truly a spiritual part of you, it projects itself into your experience for your use in time to serve you. In working it is well to say: 'Father, I know this demonstration is given me, or its full equivalent, for the purpose of helping and serving my need.' "

I have been told that I should be willing to do my kind of work for my supply, and am at the same time told to avoid any thought entering my mind which I would not wish to experience; I am at sea about the meaning of this. ANSWER Outlining is a term which describes the experience one wishes to have objectified. Outlining is working in limitation at best. Our work is to specifically set the law in motion. A right attitude is one which believes there is but One Mind and that this Mind knows exactly what to do, and how to do it, and that It does it at the bidding of your spoken word; that It opens the best channels, using the most powerful agencies, human and divine, for the accomplishment of your desire. A right attitude is a positive factor working in the Absolute. All creation results from a positive attitude a mental acceptance of the thing as finished a deep contemplation. Your seed is growing from the unseen side of life to the visible and tangible. While it is in this process, IT IS RIGHT that you accept whatever presents itself as an avenue through which your supply may come, in the realization that it is good because it serves your purpose at the moment. "

"Question'Faith without works is dead.'What is meant by active faith?"
"Active faith is the knowing, by experience, that your theory can be proved. When you can make no perceptible move toward proving that the universal good is yours, here and now, then is the moment for you to wait on Godto 'keep thy heart (understanding) with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.' Prov. 4:23. Keeping one's heart high to the truth that God works in each and every one is having active faith. It is only by standing unmoved in a condition that one may be master of it. As long as the problems of life make one desert the truth, just that long will that person find himself overwhelmed. You prove yourself stronger than the negative circumstance by staying positive to your Inner Self, and waiting patiently and with confidence on God. Such an attitude brings the desired results, and you have established your theory when the demonstration becomes an objective experience. In such case your faith has proved to be 'the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' Faith is an inner knowing. Faith IS REAL. It cannot die."

"ANSWER You are evidently functioning on the psychic plane, or the 'plane of many minds.' I advise you, for your peace of mind, resolutely to climb higher. You are the only master who has a moral right to direct your own actions. "QuestionYou know that old saying, 'Daytime is night-time of the soul; night-time is daytime of the soul. 'Is there a communion of souls aside from personal contact? Instead of contacting another in person, may one send his thought? Is not this the 'Comforter' of which we read in connection with the statement, 'I will not leave thee utterly alone?'"
"ANSWER-I do not believe that the daytime is the nighttime of the soul. That part of us which is spiritual must be the part of us which is conscious. That part of us which is subjective is the mechanical result of the spiritual and spontaneous consciousness, plus the instinctive urge which comes with us. There would be no real individuality or personality without self-conscious contacts. Hence, it seems improbable that the activities of the mind in its unconscious state could be as real as its activities while in a conscious state. While it is probable that the mind continues to work even during sleep, in this work it undoubtedly follows the suggestions and impulses which have come to it during its waking state. And in all probability there is more or less of a subjective communication going on at ALL times between persons who are in deep sympathy with one another. This communication might or might not rise to the threshold of consciousness. When it rises to the threshold of consciousness it is as a direct message or a telepathic communication. When it does not rise to the threshold of consciousness it is more like an impulse or an urge."

THE BELIEF IN ETERNAL DAMNATION IS MADNESS
"Any work which is of the Truth receives a reward. "
"The law of compensation looks after this as it does after everything else. If any man's work be burnt, that is, if it is not of the Truth, he will suffer loss but the man himself will be saved.
Paul knew that there is no eternal damnation to the soul. He said that when we make mistakes we suffer as by fire. He does not say that we suffer by fire, but, 'as by fire,' the stricken consciousness, the sense that we might have done better. The burning of the dross from the soul is, 'as by fire,' but the man himself will be saved. In the end all will reach the same goal; to believe otherwise would be madness."
To believe in any form of eternal damnation is sheer madness. Whatever man is, he is because he IS, and since he did not make himself he cannot help being what he is. But he does not yet manifest his true nature and much that he now manifests will be done away with, while that which is real will live forever.:
"Man is the temple of God and the Holy Spirit indwells every soul. When the outer temple is unfit it is destroyed; but it is evident that if the inmate is the Spirit of God It cannot be destroyed, even by the greatest of human foolishness. The embodiment may be destroyed and is, but the inner temple itself, that structure reared on the foundations of the universe, is eternal. That which is mortal of us will perish but that which is immortal is immortal."

Love itself is the universal urge of Spirit for self-expression and when this is stifled in the individual, life cannot express its greater good through him. Love always tends toward unity and an harmonious accord with people and things. When two people really love each other they do not quarrel, they unify. When a family, individually and collectively, loves its members, it remains in harmony and unity, and is bound together by a common interest and a common passion to preserve itself from all harm."

The world is slow in waking up to reality, but we need not wait.Though the whole world were unhappy, peace still would be. It is our business to demonstrate that harmony is real and discord unreal, that good is real no matter how much evil people may be experiencing. It is on this basis alone that we can use the greatest law of life. Good never compromises with its opposite. The one practicing must be able to look a fact in the face and say that it is not there. This will not be irrational to the one who has made a careful study of the Science of Mind and Spirit.
The results rest in the eternal law of good.:
Truth knows no opposites. When we take away the belief in evil it flees with the dissolution of this belief. We must be continually reminding ourselves of the power of the word and of our ability to consciously use it. We must know that truth produces freedom because truth is freedom. We are not God, but we are some part of the power of God. It is in quiet expectancy and in calm confidence that our work should be done.

"An individual giving a treatment must believe that there is a Power and a Presence that respond to his thought.
No matter what all the world believes, no matter what anyone says, he must believe that this Power does, directly and specifically, respond to his word . . . that he is actually in league with the only Power there is. Without this conviction, our word returns unto us void. "
"We are to approach this Presence simply, directly and easily, because it is right here within us. We can never get outside ourselves. We shall always be interior in our comprehension. I am here and It is also here. In other words, we are surrounded by pure Intelligence and we are part of it. Intelligence responds to us directly, specifically, concretely and personally
On these points, I take it we are in accord. To each one of us, this Infinite is the infinite potentiality of all abstract personalness. God is Universal, Life is Universal, but at the point where the consciousness of man contacts It, It becomes personal. We are Its personality. ."

"'Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.'"
"To-day we know what this means. The renewing of the mind is a scientific act. As the conscious thought pours truth into the subjective channels of creative energy, the body is automatically renewed; this is mental healing. Mental healing is a conscious act as well as an established fact in the experience of many people. Instead of the old concepts of disease and failure we are to inject those of liberty, freedom, health, harmony and success.
Mental healing is subject to the exact laws of mind and Spirit, and is accomplished by correct knowing. This knowing is a mental attitude toward the Truth. It is the Truth that makes free, and it is the mind which knows the Truth. "

"EVERYTHING that we see is the result of mind in action. "
"We all have a body and we have what is called a physical environment; we could
have neither if it were not for mind. The law implanted within us is, that
we need nothing except ourselves and this All-Wise Creative Mind to make
anything; and that just so far as we depend upon any condition, past,
present or future, or upon any individual, we are creating chaos, because
we are dealing with conditions and not with causes. Every living
soul is a law unto himself, but of this great truth few people are
conscious. It seems difficult for the race, which feels itself to be so
limited, to comprehend the fact that there is a power that makes things
directly out of itself, by simply becoming the thing that it makes, and
that it does this by self knowing. But we will not demonstrate until we see
at least some of this, the greatest truth about life.
We should realize that we are dealing with the principle that is scientifically
correct. It will never fail us at any time but is eternally present. We can
approach the Infinite Mind with a depth of thought and understanding, knowing
that it will respond, knowing that we are dealing with reality. "

"When we express a greater livingness, then Life is more completely expressing itself through us. A barren tree does not express the principle of abundance and production, so a life barren of good works does not fully express the divine ideal.
Evolution has brought man to a point of self-expression and it can do no more for him until he consciously cooperates with it. Its law is one of growth and enfoldment. God goes forth anew into creation whenever anyone discovers a new truth or increases knowledge about an old one. Each is a center of the All, and each has access to the All, through his own nature."

"If we wish to demonstrate a companion or a position, we are not treating to heal some physical ailment. If someone asks us how to get to a certain place, geographically, we do not direct him in the opposite direction.
Why, then, should we be chaotic in giving treatments?"
"There is nothing more specific than mental treatment. We are going back to the Essence, God, Spirit, the Absolute, the Unknowable, in that It is more than we shall ever know, but not unthinkable. Let us try to realize not only that with God all things are possible, but that poverty, disease and other human ills do not have stages of development in Divine Mind.
When doubts, fears and contradictions come up in mind, we must turn to them and consciously and definitely put them out. We must remember a thought is a thing. A thought that doubts good neutralizes a thought that affirms good, and vice versa. It does not matter what has happened or what condition exists, we must realize that we are using a Power, compared to which the united intelligence of the human race is as nothing. We must still affirm, with an ever-growing conviction, the active presence of good in our experience right now. A treatment becomes a mental entity in the spiritual world, just as a kernel of corn becomes a physical entity in this creative force of nature which we call the soil, in conjunction with the elements. "
The sooner we realize this is the truth about mental practice, the quicker we will demonstrate.:
"The word which we speak is complete and sure and has means and processes of producing itself at the level of our recognition. Consequently, as the recognition becomes greater, the experience becomes broader. JESUS FORGIVES A MAN AND HEALS HIM
Now some of the scribes who heard Jesus tell the sick man that his sins were forgiven, said he blasphemed God in attempting to forgive sins. "
"But Jesus, reading their thoughts and knowing what was in their minds, asked them if it were easier to forgive or to heal? In order to prove his position he healed the man.
This incident has to do with a great psychological law. If one labors under a great burden of past mistakes he devitalizes his body and if the condemnation is great enough it might render the body incapable of moving. Jesus, seeing that the sick man was laboring under a load of condemnation, told him that his sins were forgiven. This removed the weight from the man's consciousness, making it possible for him to receive the healing word."
Indeed he knew that the Divine Mind is too pure to behold evil and knows nothing about sin.:
"Would Jesus have forgiven the man if he thought that God held anything against him? Certainly not. He knew that the Eternal Heart is one of love and that God forgives from the foundation of the universe."

"ABIDING IN THE ONE
'If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.'"
"As it is impossible for humanity to literally abide in the man Jesus we must look for a figurative meaning in these words. He is speaking of the spirit of his teachings; and the whole spirit of his teachings is to the effect that man is an individualized center of God-consciousness.
The spirit of man is the Spirit of God, for God is One. When we abide in the One we cannot ask amiss but must ask for that which is right and good, consequently our prayers to the One will be answered. But let us remember that prayer is answered according to law, and this law is one of liberty and never one of license. True liberty comes only through true harmony, true harmony only through true unity, and true unity can come only by the conscious realization that we are one with God or good. "
To trust in the law of good is to constantly believe that we are surrounded by a power which can and will cast all fear from our minds, free us from all bondage, and set us safe and satisfied in a new order of living.:
"Jesus says that it will be done unto us. He implies a power which can and will work for those who harmonize with, and believe in it. But we must first abide in the spirit of Truth. "The student should take time every day TO SEE HIS LIFE AS HE WISHES IT TO BE, TO MAKE A MENTAL PICTURE OF HIS IDEAL. He should pass this picture over to the Law and go about his business with the inner assurance that on the invisible side of life something is taking place. Let the Law work through, and express Itself in the experience. You cannot see tomorrow, nor next summer. But they will come because it is their nature to appear according to their law. TREATMENT
Question"Will the same treatment take care of, or be effective for, both health and prosperity, or must there be two different kinds of treatments given?"
ANSWER"In the last analysis there is but one treatment given for anything that is desired. That treatment consists in convincing the mind that the thing desired is already accomplished. The only thing that seems to be difficult is for the person to KNOW THAT HE KNOWS that what he asks is already his. Since man is of the Divine Substance, the quality of KNOWING is inherently active within him. But until man knows consciously that this inherent wisdom is at his command, he cannot use it consciously."
Every problem is primarily mental, and the answer to all problems will be found in Spiritual Realization.:
"Treatment is not for the purpose of making things happen; it is to provide, within ourselves, an avenue through which they may happen. Treatment opens up the avenues of thought, expands the consciousness, and lets Reality through; it clarifies the mentality, removes the obstructions of thought and lets in the Light. We already live in a Perfect Universe, but It needs to be mentally seen before It can become a part of our experience. Treatment removes doubt and fear; lets in the realization of the Presence of Spirit; and is necessary while we are confronted by obstruction or obstacles."

IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE ARE MANY MANSIONS
"'In my Father's house are many mansions.' This world, with all its wonders, is not the only one that we shall inhabit. There are many others and we shall inhabit each in time.
If this life were the only life Jesus would have told his followers so. He held out no false promises, never deceived"
"He spoke only the truth. 'I go to prepare a place for you.' What more beautiful thought than that those who go before shall be there when we arrive! There is no death, only an expansion of the soul, an enlargement of the experience. But Thomas, who was a disciple, said that he did not know where Jesus was going nor did he know the way."
God is within and it is here that we meet Him. The inward gaze alone can reveal the Father.:

The insight for today:
"THE one who wishes to practise metaphysics must first, last, and all the time realize that he himself is a center of the divine activity; he must know that whatever God is in the Universal, he is in the world in which he lives."
"He must know that all things are made out of Spirit, which is First Cause; nothing comes before Spirit. Operating upon itself out of itself, it makes what it will out of its own perfect desire. He must think of the Spirit as the Father of his own life, eternally bound to him, eternally binding him to it.
He must know that the Spirit not only can manifest through him, but that it wishes to do so; 'The Father seeks such to worship Him.'
The practitioner who understands the truth knows that as long as God exists, he will exist; that he could no more become non-existent than God could. Walking, talking, moving in God, he must not only see the Divine Being as tile great unknown Cause, but he must go a step further and see God as the great self-knowing, understanding power of Infinite Intelligence, thinking through his own thought and willing into his own life all power and all good. More than this, God must become within his own soul the greater self, the inner life, the inner light that is to light his path with sure step to the attainment of the greater ideals."
